Here to Serve

The “Ephesians 2:10” Philosophy

Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite verse is Ephesians 2:10.  The Apostle Paul writes,

“You are a masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God has prepared in advance for you to do.”

I love this verse because it reminds us that God created us uniquely, and he has work for each of us to do to that is specific to our skills, talents, and giftings to further his Kingdom. Basically, each one of us is a masterpiece, created by God to do his work!

I often tell my kids that God has a plan for their life and I don’t want them to miss it!  I believe this to my core! God uniquely wired each person and wants to do something AMAZING in and through everyone for his names’ sake. I use and truly believe that everyone has an Ephesians 2:10 destiny!

We encourage you to explore your Ephesians 2:10 destiny and see what God can do through you. Once you know how and why God uniquely made you, it is life changing – for you and everyone you encounter. By using your unique gifts and by your willingness to serve, we are fulfilling Jesus’ plan to heal broken places, restore hurting hearts, and bring hope to the world – there is no plan B!

Your Purpose, Gifts, and Calling

When I first came to Parkview, 5 years ago, I was excited to be part of a church that valued finding your purpose, gifts, and calling. Not only did Parkview encourage me to seek this out, but I also looked for ways to connect others to serving opportunities within the community that allowed their unique gifts to shine.

I’ve been blown away to see a church community that encourages volunteers, members, and guests to embrace the priesthood of all believers found in 1 Peter 2:4-5. I love this because it reminds us we ALL have a place in the Kingdom of God to serve and use our talents…as a pastor and as a leader.

“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 2:4-5

In Ephesians 4, the Apostle Paul also writes and mandates that the church must equip his people for works of service. This is another key serving principle. When we put ourselves second and serve God’s plans first, we begin to open up, impact others, and deepen our relationship with God. Ultimately, serving impacts others and changes our own lives.

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-13

Here to Serve

I have seen that, at Parkview, we take this responsibility very seriously. It is our desire to do our part to help all who call Parkview home to find a place to serve, to build them up and equip people to do amazing things for Jesus.

We are passionate about creating a serving culture within the church, where anyone in the community can come, not only for what they can receive but for what they can contribute to see their lives and their community transformed!

Our hope is to create a culture where, in any setting, Parkview people are the first to say “I am HERE TO SERVE!” so that anyone who enters the doors of Parkview is open to the idea of serving and willing to encounter life transformation by giving their time, talents, and resources.

We believe that people will not only see transformation of others around them but they will personally experience the transforming power of Jesus as they serve.

We care WAY MORE about people for who they are than what they can produce, however, we pray and desire to see our church on fire for God, living out their Ephesians 2:10 destiny, and experience and influence impact through serving.
