A Time for Lament

The past couple of weeks have been extremely difficult. The murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd have left many feeling confused, hurt, upset, or overwhelmed. We may find ourselves emotional or angry not knowing what to do or how to help. Though we do not have all the answers, we want to offer a ‘family moment’ where we can come together as a church community to self-assess the ups and downs of what we all may be facing internally and externally.

As we navigate this troubling time, we made the decision to delay the start of our Four Week Discipleship Groups. Instead, we invite you to join us for a self-led experience in expressing grief and sorrow. We will provide a space for you to light your own candle as a physical representation of lament. Gather with us (in person) in the Parkview parking lot for a time of reflection and prayer. You can come any time between 6:30-9 PM and reflect at your own pace. This is a family-friendly gathering.

A couple of things to consider:
Face coverings will be required. Come with your own in consideration of others. Bring your own candle to light and leave. We will have a prayer of lament to read and reflect on. Again, use the time to think and pray at your own pace.

“Let us examine and probe our ways. Let us return to the Lord.”
– Lamentations 3:40
